I think that the pearl itself is just an object, and it's the people that make it evil. The music just represents what Kino feels at the moment that it appears. In Kino's family, I think that the pearl made them a little more greedy and they wanted more, more, more. The same effect happens to the other villagers, someone even attacked them at night trying to get to the great pearl, most likely wanting the great wealth that it possesses.
Jessica Nurmi did a great job on meeting the standards of the project. She covered everything that was asked of. But, I wish that she would have expanded a little more on the topic, though the writing itself was good. My favorite line of the writing would be, "I think that the pearl, itself is just an object, and it's the people that make it evil." I like this part because it tells her opinion while talking about the book at the same time.
